APS was retained in mid-2005 to offer tax and accounting service to three students at the University of Pennsylvania. Their business, Yodle Inc., provided targeted internet based marketing. Our engagement quickly grew to include all of the back-office finance and accounting support the company needed. In 2007 a CEO was hired and later that year the VP of Finance. Both decided to retain APS and continued to utilize our outsourced finance department service for their finance dept. needs until late 2009. During this time the company grew from 30 to 350 employees in five cities.  Yodle was the first major client serviced by APS and proved that finance department work could be outsourced successfully if you have the right systems in place. Yodle, Inc. was sold to Web.com in March 2016 for over 300 million dollars.

YieldStreet

 

In late 2015 Milind Mehere (one of the founders of Yodle) stopped at the Trenton Amtrak Train Station to meet with Alan Lipoff to discuss his newest venture. The concept was taking alternative investments and making these available for the average investor. Several months later Yieldstreet, Inc. was born. Since the spring of 2015, Yieldstreet has retained the services of Accounting Plus to function as the company’s finance department. Today with a team of 20, YieldStreet has funded investments of over 180 million dollars allowing over 3,000 investors to participate. The company is being called a “disruptor” in the fintech sector. APS and team have been able to handle all of their back office accounting and tax needs.

Blandi Products, LLC

 

Blandi Products creates, manufactures and distributes a prestige brand of hair care products via major national retail channels. The company is backed by the celebrity hair stylist Oscar Blandi. In 2007 the company was in financial disarray with almost one million dollars owed to vendors and little or no credit.  Alan Lipoff was retained in November 2007 to provide CFO for hire services. Within two months I quickly created a plan to stabilize the company financially and worked out payment arrangements with all vendors. In March 2008, APS was hired to be the outsourced finance department for the company. During the first six months of our work I was able to restructure the internal accounting systems to allow for accurate weekly/monthly reporting of key metrics. This included a complete restructure of the internal inventory system for finished goods and components. Further accomplishments included workouts with all vendors of the company and re-establishing terms with all of the vendors. During the term of our work the company became profitable, hired a national sales staff and grew distribution. In June 2011 the company was successfully sold to a PE firm and our engagement ended.

Nathaniel Stevens (one of the original three founders of Yodle) has again looked to APS for assistance in his next company(s). APS has been retained to provide outsourced finance department work for Nathaniel and has new entities and well as CFO for hire services. In 2008, Business Week in their Sept 8, 2008 issue named Nathaniel one of the Best Entrepreneurs Under 25. APS is privileged to have been asked to work with Nathaniel again.
